My name is Marge Kessler. My husband Art and I didn't have the privilege of knowing Dr. Pharr! We are both volunteers of the Watauga Humane Society and SNIPS of the Watauga Humane Society. I just want to say blessings to all the family members and to thank them for naming the Watauga Humane Society for donations instead of flowers! Blessings always!

Kyles Wallace, 1974, Pfeiffer College.
One of the best profs at Pfeiffer, especially for me during my 3 1/2 years. Dr. Pharr was a gentleman, and a scholar. Loved the guy. Provided leadership to groups and to individuals like myself. Sat with him on a couple of councils at Pfeiffer, and always knew that as a student, I had a friend in those labors. And yet, always communicated that he was a prof, loved his own material, and a most accomplished lecturer. He was helpful in my transition to Duke University after graduation at Pfeiffer, December, 1974;, I began Duke seamlessly, January, 1975, with Dr. Pharr's encouragement in the struggle for my Master's. Additionally, Dr. Pharr was interested in my efforts at Emory University in pursuit of my Doctorate. I did not know he was keeping up with me, as it were; a clear 8 years from my graduation at Pfeiffer, a letter came to my mailbox at my first church in High Point, NC. "I heard you were carrying on with your passion for knowledge and understanding of your life's calling- in the hallowed halls of Emory University, Atlanta, Ga. If I can assist you, you know where I live." Attending Pfeiffer College Homecoming over the years, Dr. Pharr inquired "how's it going?" You going to stay in school all your life?" Me: "Probably. Like you, Sir." World is a much better place because Dr. Pharr was here. Bless you, Brother. Bound to run into each other again somewhere.

One of my favorite professors ever. I still think of lessons learned in Religion and Modern Man. Rest well, Dr. Pharr.

My condolences. Phil was one of the kindest and intelligent persons I have ever known. I remember well standing outside his lectures at Pfeiffer University, listening to his comments. His dry in depth humor was incredible. The majority of students would sit there as his humor skipped over their head. Once in a while a student would catch the joke and laugh out loud. Dr. Phar and Dottie enjoyed living in their beautiful mountain estate named the "Pharr place". His wise thoughtful intellect will be missed. A large hole now exists without Dr. Pharr's quiet, humble, personality to enrich us all. I will deeply miss my friend, but feel blessed to have the good memories.
