Q: How would you describe Gregory to someone who had never met them?
A: I met Greg in Norfolk, Va. in 1986. We worked in the same region for twenty years, and together hundreds of times. He was the most knowledgeable and instinctive Signalman I ever knew. He was outgoing, loved to laugh, and was maybe the most well known guy in our whole department. To try and give you an idea of his sense of humor, one day I very nearly stepped into the path of a train. Greg yelled and stopped me. I turned around to thank him, but before I could speak he said "I'm not going to let you get hit by a train by accident, I'd lose the chance of throwing you under one myself!" He literally saved my life, and then got me with one of the funniest zingers ever! He was a good guy, and I will keep him in my memory. I am sorry for your loss

Glenda and family I was saddened to hear of Greg’s passing. Our paths
Crossed many times at work and off. He had a unique personality and was a character with a capital C. Will miss our card games lunches and visits we had. Wish you all comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Glenda, I’m so sorry for your loss. Greg was such a great friend and I have so many memories of our times together. He was larger than life fellow and loved having good times. He was so generous and kindhearted but mischievous in a good way too! I loved his sense of humor and he made the world a better place. I will miss him. I really appreciate the way he looked after my mother when they were neighbors. He would bring her a plate of food quite often and he told me many times how much he loved her and that she was a great lady. I could go on and on but for now I’ll stop. Rest in peace brother, until we meet again. God is great , please give comfort to all of us who love Greg.

I worked for the Railroad at the N&W Coal Piers and Greg would come in to our shop to visit. You always knew when he was there, he was the Life of the Party kind of guy, with his Mad Hatter kind of self! I’m sorry for your loss, but I know you will always remember him and have him forever in your hearts! God Bless you through your days ahead

Wow. Where do I even start? Greggy was the kindest person I've ever met. He would be willing to go out of his for those close to him. And, he was always the life of the party when we got together. Always smiling and trying to make everybody laugh. Even if it was at his own expense. You will be sorely missed, my friend.
