Obituary of Adam Garrett Lewis
Please share a memory of Adam to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Adam Garrett Lewis, age 36, of Coy Ham Rd., Lansing, passed away Monday morning, January 16, 2023. Adam is survived by his mother, Margaret Lynn Rutter and step-father, Paul Rutter, of Lansing; three younger brothers, Sterling Trent Lewis, 35, and wife, Danielle and daughter, Adalynn, Wesley Alexander Lewis, 27, of Todd and Ethan Thomas Lewis, 25, of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Reid Lewis.
Adam was a volunteer fireman for the Blowing Rock Fire Department and later for the Meat Camp Fire District. He worked EMS prior to his devastating illness. Adam was very people oriented and loved his interaction with young and old. He loved to fish and worked in carpentry while physically able. After his disability overtook his physical strength, he placed efforts toward his artistic side in sketching and wood carving. He was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew him.
Our family shared these words to describe our son and brother. Compassionate, selfless, courageous, strong, brave, resilient, loving and thoughtful.
Celebration of Life services for Adam will be conducted Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2023 at 3 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mike Townsend, Rev. Mike Cogsdale, Rev. Tim McCree, Rev. Delmar James and Ms. Amy Snyder. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 3 o'clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in memory of Adam to the Meat Camp Fire Department, 4797 Highway 194 N., Boone, NC 28607.
