He was very good friends with my Dad, Kirk, for many years. I remember him and my dad always going to gun shows and flea markets on the weekends. He would always make me laugh and always told silly jokes and made up silly songs about me when I was a kid. I still remember two of those songs from 30+ years ago. Rest in peace Charlie!!!

I always had the greatest memories of Uncle Charlie. We loved his wonderfully bizarre sense of humor, his kindness, and love for life, and we looked forward to his every visit. He always took time to encourage what made each of us unique, and never backed down from our silliness, most of the time being a part of it. We'll miss you greatly, Uncle Charlie. Thank you for reminding us that being unique is something to celebrate and take pride in. We love you.

I always remember Charlie with a lot of smiles. He played baritone next to me with my French Horn in the Watauga High School band and he was really talented. Even after he went to NC State, Charlie would send me pictures of him playing in the marching band. He would plot out the marching band formations for the NC State half time games on graph paper with arrows pointing to which one he was. What a character, and I miss him. Many thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Charlie. I always think about him parking his big orange Schneider truck beside the road, and when he was home he would always weed eat with his big handle bar Stihl trimmer.
