Obituary of David Frederick Saunders

David Frederick Saunders, known by most as Dave, passed away unexpectedly in his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, on May 1st, 2020, at age 57. Dave was born in Joliet, Illinois, on February 4th, 1963, to Arlene and Fred Saunders. He was the oldest of three children, and is survived by his siblings, Diane and Doug. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1981, and went on to graduate from Iowa State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Dave married Trish (Rhuda) Saunders on April 29th, 1989, whom he had two daughters with, Kaitlin and Anna Rose. Dave most recently worked for VMWare as a Senior Database Engineer, but also worked for many years in various positions at Pivotal, Amazon, Drugstore.com, Walmart, and General Dynamics. In addition to his work in the technology field, Dave was well known for his performances as a voice-over actor, and created commercial audio for Applebee's, Toshiba, ESPN, and many others. Dave also spent his time woodworking and built many gorgeous pieces of furniture, ranging from barnwood bed frames to intricate shelves. Other hobbies Dave enjoyed include golfing, cooking his favorite recipes, and watching movies. Dave was also a man of faith and wrote beautiful prayers that his family will cherish for years to come. Many who remember Dave comment on his quick wit, intelligence, and work ethic. He will be sorely missed by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, siblings, nieces and nephews, friends, VMWare team, and voice-over colleagues.
