How strange that on the anniversary of Dave’s premature passing he popped into my head. I was thinking about his voice acting work and visited the site to hear some recordings again and then realized the date. I was in school with Dave from grades 5-12. It was the “tracking” days of education during the 70s and early 80s, and we were in many classes together. We enjoyed a healthy humorous and competitive relationship with him being superior in both intellect and humor, earning my respect and admiration. He was always one of the people with whom I had hoped to reconnect during school reunions. I knew he would have lived an accomplished and gregarious life. I hope to reconnect with him in the next. My prayers and sympathies to his family as you continue to mourn his passing. May your beautiful memories sustain you.

Dave, you were one of my best friends and the greatest character I've ever met. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with you flying across oceans and exploring terrific cities supporting Dept of Defense customers. I considered you an older brother - you visited my parents and met my extended family over the years. I'm at a loss for words. I miss you very very much. How can anyone put into words the scale and quality of character that Dave was?
The attached photo is of Dave sitting at the bow of our sailboat. Queen Anne, downtown Seattle, is in the background. We were returning from an afternoon on Blake Island smoking cigars in the rain. A great and memorable day. Check out that smile!
Rest in peace brother.

We know the memorial for Dave was this morning so have prayed for peace for the Trish and the girls especially today. Dave was taken too soon, which makes it so much more difficult. He was such a fun loving neighbor here in Sammamish. We have a lasting memento from Dave at our cabin in Idaho which is an old iron fire pit we gave him for his backyard. Then when we were helping him pack up the last load before leaving he gave it back to us. We will never light another fire in it without thinking of Dave's warm smile and friendship.
He's in the arms of Jesus now so cherish that thought, Trish, Anna Rose, & Kaitlyn.
Much love,
Margo & Preston Prudente

Like so many others we were truly blessed to know Dave. We met shortly after they moved to Sammamish and quickly became good friends with the Saunders family.
I'm sure we can all agree Dave was one of the more gregarious people you could ever meet along with his funny, keen and quick wit. He still holds the record for biggest indoor Christmas tree on the Plateau! Thank you Dave and Trish for the gift you've given the world in Kaitlyn and AnnaRose...two shining stars that reflect your love and legacy. Hugs and love, Doug and Stacie Ramsey

Thank so much for the kind words! Yes, Dave was very witty & funny, 2 of the many things we miss so much about him! The gigantic Christmas tree started after he helped our neighbor Clint wrestle his big tree home & put it in it’s place. Dave loved it so much, he decided that we needed one too, and of course only bigger, ha. Thus started the enormous Christmas tree tradition! We will sure miss that too! Love you guys ❤️

How can words ever adequately express a life force like Dave? I met Dave through Trish, when Trish became one of my most dear friends when our children were in elementary school. They had just moved to Sammamish and I was immediately drawn to her warm, southern ways! I loved Dave too! His ready smile, jovial manner and sharp wit was fun and welcoming! He always treated the ladies so kindly! Ha! He always made you feel welcomed in his home even when unexpected and I’m sure even when we stayed well beyond when we should have! He was warm, funny, irreverent and occasionally you might be lucky enough to have a tiny glimpse into his deep, introspective side. It always felt, though, that it came from a true place of kindness and a keen curiosity and love of people. I loved Dave’s imagination and his delight in tinkering. It was impressive how he was always pressing on to the next thing. My heart breaks for Trish, Katie, Anna Rose and all his friends and family—it’s hard to imagine the depth of this loss. But he has left a beautiful legacy in the gift of his daughters. They will carry him on! We look forward to an eternity with Dave! He’s the kind of guy I hope lives next door to me in heaven! :-). May all the memories of this special man bring you comfort and peace in the days and years to come!

David was a quick wit, intellectual, talented,
God loving man. I’ve known Dave thru Trish,
back in his Walmart H.O. days. Trish and I had a craft fair booth we were able to have-back in the day, at the H.O. parking lot. Dave was helpful and a jovial soul with our booth. I treasure watching him as a Roman Soldier as Trish as a follower of Jesus at the Emanuel Baptist Church Easter Cantata.
Dave was quite a trooper to pick me up from the airport when I visited their family when they lived in WA State. Pointing out cool places to see on our way to the family home.My families “kinship” has followed Dave, Trish and their beautiful daughters still today. We are family more than friends. My heart is so saddened for each of you in this sudden loss. I am, however, extremely thankful for the gift of eternal life when we’ve asked Jesus Christ to be our Lord & Savior.
Life’s journey takes us many directions, but to have the confidence that Dave was a believer in Christ- What a wonderful reunion it will be when we see one another face to face. It will be a reunion that will last for eternity. To Trish, Katie, Anna Rose- My family and I love you and am always here for you.

Thanks so much sweet Julie, for making the 14 hour drive out to NC to help us after his passing. For the prayers, hugs & tears shared when things felt very scary to me; especially in the house after he passed. Thank you for all of the ways you have helped Kate, Rose, Jacob & I; too numerous to count! We love you & thank God for your friendship in our lives! Trish xo

I worked with Dave at Pivotal and while we had wildly different views on life and politics, we had a strong working relationship and became friends. He had a great sense of humor and always brought a smile to my face (and occasionally an eye-roll). I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Dave at Pivotal on Greenplum Building Block project. He is fun, humorous, and extremely patient. If he is around, all the projects will immediately be lifted to the next level of happiness. Missed you Dave!

Dave was a caring and honest man. I worked with Dave at Pivotal with multiple customers in the southeast and it was always a pleasure to work with him. Dave was smart, reliable, and thorough but also just a nice person. Whenever I would see Dave at meetings, he would always make me smile. He had a positive energy about him that was contagious.

I am at a loss for words for this tragedy and huge loss of a special man. My heart goes out to Trish, her daughters, and her entire family. When I think of Dave I think of his fantastic smile. He was authentic, funny, smart and spontaneous. He added a sparkle to every conversation - always fully engaged and engaging. Such a sweet guy. He will be missed. I am praying for Trish, Kaitlin and Anna Rose to feel the loving arms of Jesus wrapped around them, comforting them and giving them His peace, the peace that passes all understanding. Love you! ✝️❤️✝️ Bob and Jan Ball

Dave was my manager at Pivotal, but I remember his as a friend. Our weekly status call began with work related issues, but soon branched out into subjects far afield from databases and business. We shared a somewhat quirky sense of humor and enjoyed the kind of repartee that friends can share on a call. When he came to the DC office, it made our lives happier. I will miss him sorely and hope you can find some peace in the days ahead.
All the best,
Marshall Presser.

Doug and Dave together was so awesome to see. They drifted apart a little through life but the last few years they grew closer. Even taking a fishing trip with Dougs son Drew a couple years ago. Drew says it was one of his very best trips. Doug plans on carrying on the tradition with Drew and they will always think of Dave.
I loved watching Dave and Doug talk and laugh oh boy are those two were comedic geniuses when together. We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and love are with his wife and daughters. May you all find peace in his memory.

I personally have known and worked with Dave for 25+ years, this is a tragic situation for his wife and two daughters. I find it helpful in times like this to reflect on and share our individual stories or experiences that we have had with Dave over the years. One of my favorite ( and there are many ) Dave stories, took place almost 17 years ago to the day when I was married. Dave flew out to CO and attended my wedding ( held on a Saturday ). Unannounced and uninvited, Dave showed up at my house the next morning ( Mother’s Day ) bearing flowers and gifts for both my mother and my new mother-in-law. Needless to say Dave is a mother’s favorite to this day -- and in my many years with Dave, this epitomizes Dave Saunders -- you would never expect him to pull off such a thoughtful surprise.
With my deepest sympathies,
Mark

I feel so saddened and heartbroken at Dave‘s sudden passing. Dave is my cousin and I have very fond memories of visiting his parents home as we were growing up and having lots of fun with him and his siblings Diane and Doug. He could make me laugh so hard! I can see his warm and mischievous smile with a definite twinkle in his eyes as I think of him. I send my deep condolences to Trish, Kaitlyn and Anna Rose and all the family and friends that love him and are grieving. Love and peace, Beth Giles

My favorite memories of my dad are simply of us casually hanging out. I loved cooking with him and just catching up. He was so funny and smart--sometimes too funny and smart for his own good, haha. As I begin to sort through some of his belongings, I'm starting to realize just how clever he really was. I can't even begin to understand half of the books on his bookshelf about physics and computer programming, and I wish I could've seen the intricate model train set plans he drew and tucked away come to life. I hope that some day my own children are as intelligent, talented, and creative as he was.
Dad, I wish I wouldn't have taken our last chili-hangout for granted, but I'm so glad we got to hang out one last time just days before I realized I would never see you again on this earth. I love you and miss you!
