Obituary of Clara Lewis Taylor

Ms. Clara Lewis Taylor passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem following several years of declining health. She was born in Boone, the daughter of Frank Wade and Florence Hodges Lewis. Following graduation from Appalachian High School, she moved to Winston-Salem to attend business school. She retired from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine (now Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center) with 46 years of service. Ms. Taylor attended Parkway Chapel as long as her health allowed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Lewis, sisters, Juanita Lewis and Mildred Kennedy; and a special niece, Nicole Lewis. Ms. Taylor is survived by her sister, Sarah Atkins of Baltimore, MD, and brothers, Claude Lewis and wife, Angelina, of Boone and Paul Lewis and wife, Linda, of Hudson. Also surviving is a special niece, Claudine Lewis, and several other nieces and nephews, along with many close friends. In addition, she leaves behind a special friend, Jean Fuertes. Private graveside services will be conducted Friday morning, December 22nd at 11 o�clock at the Piney Grove Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Chuck Campbell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Forsyth County, 4881 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104, or to a charity of the donor�s choice.
