Obituary of Martha P. Frazier

Miss Martha Pearl Frazier, age 76, of Boone, died Sunday morning, October 19, 2008 at Mountain Care Facility. Born September 23, 1932 in Linville, she was a daughter of the late Worth Wray and Mabel Lyons Frazier, and was raised in Catawba, NC. Martha was a graduate of Lees-McRae College, Lenoir Rhyne College, and held a Master's degree from Appalachian State University. She taught in the Mecklenburg County School System. She was a member of Oak Grave Baptist Church; a Sunday school teacher, church organist and pianist for a number of years. Martha was known as a kind, generous, compassionate and devoted hard worker in her church and teaching profession. Surviving are one sister; Shirley Fox and husband Ben of Boone, one brother; Wray Frazier and wife Glenda of Newton, two nieces; Julie Frazier of Newton and Anne F. Donadio and husband Joe of Boone, one nephew, Ben Fox, Jr. and wife Annette of Boone, and four great nieces; Katelin and Nicole Fox and Hallie and Cady Donadio all of Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Frazier. Funeral services for Miss Martha Pearl Frazier will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. David Austin. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family respectfully requests no flowers, and suggests memorials to Multiple Sclerosis Research Foundation, in care of Dr. Peter Haibach, Post Office Box 2780, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends Monday morning prior to the service from 10 o'clock until 11 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Sharon Gragg and the staff at Mountain Care Facility, where Martha made her home for the past 10 years. The staff's Kindness, compassion and good care was most appreciated by Martha and her family. Also special thanks to Dr. Peter Haibach and staff, and to Debra Rich, a dedicated friend who helped with Martha's care which required much time, love and patience.
