Obituary of Norma S. Shaw

2008 Mrs. Norma Schmidt Shaw, age 76, of Valley Creek Lane, Boone, the Foscoe Community, died Saturday evening, April 12, 2008 at Watauga Medical Center. Born April 21, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Gladys Vivian Lang Schmidt. Mrs. Shaw was a member of Howards Creek Baptist Church, and a retired Registered Nurse. She attended Purdue University. Norma was the co-owner of the Goldsmith along with her late husband Tom Shaw, and worked at Morgan�s Jewelry. Surviving are; two sons; Thomas Edward Shaw, III and wife Marie of Lakeland, Florida, Morgan Lawrence Shaw and wife Carol of Boone, one daughter, Victoria Shaw Miller and husband B. W. of Boone, and four grandchildren; Thomas Edward Shaw, IV, Rebekah Lang Miller, Christopher Morgan Shaw and Cody St. Clair Shaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Edward Shaw, Jr., and one brother, Richard William Schmidt. Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Schmidt Shaw will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Howards Creek Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Chaney and Rev. Joe London. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Howards Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 240 Howards Creek Church Road, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 o�clock until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Shaw family.
