Obituary of Joan Kirkpatrick

Joan Kirkpatrick, age 83, of North Street, Boone, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born March 12, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Leroy Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth Haglar Kirkpatrick. Joan was a cook and pie maker at the Mountain House for many years. Ms. Kirkpatrick is survived by her daughter, Lynn Clayborn and grandson, Jonathan Clayborn, both of Boone; sisters, Geraldine Horton of Lenoir and Rosalee Craven of Lexington; and brother, Samuel Kirkpatrick and wife Johnnie Mae of Oak Ridge, TN. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Mae Kirkpatrick, and Mary Jane Rice; and three brothers, Carl, James and Leroy Kirkpatrick, Jr. Funeral services for Ms. Joan Kirkpatrick will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o�clock at the Boone Mennonite Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Mathes. Burial will follow at Clarissa Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1 o�clock until 2 o�clock at the church prior to the service.
