Obituary of William C. Brown

William C. Brown, Sr. of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully December 15, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 24, 1929 in Watauga County, he was the son of the late Roby Jones (Hub) Brown and Duluth Lawrence Brown. Dedicated and cherished father of Patricia Navarro of Milner, GA, Diana Kirst (Allen) of Griffin, GA, William C. Jr. (Deborah) of North Royalton, OH, Laura Weathers (Late Douglas) of Port St. Lucie and Robert of Port St. Lucie. Loving Papaw of 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Adored uncle of many nieces and nephews. (Also) Survived by sisters: Mary Stamey of Hickory, Virginia Hall (Jim) of Granite Falls; brother Rom Brown (Brenda) of Hickory. He was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Shade and her husband Steve; sisters: Betty Levering, Johnsie Wallen, Grace Laxton, and Jessie Pearl Brown. Bill was a Veteran, and retired as foreman from General Motors in Cleveland, OH after a 35 year career. He spent his time between Boone and Florida, enjoyed bowling, old westerns, coaching softball, listening to country and gospel music. A friend to everyone whom had the pleasure of meeting him, Bill will be remembered for entertaining all with his quick wit, sense of humor and endless jokes. He brought a smile to all who crossed his path in life. He was a spiritual person, a kind and gentle man who enjoyed lifes simple pleasures. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1st (2017) at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bills honor to Oak Grove Baptist Church, Boone, NC or Treasure Coast Hospice of St. Lucie County, Florida.
