Obituary of Timothy D. Nelson

Mr. Timothy Deon Nelson, age 49, of Deep Gap, died Friday afternoon, April 28, 2017 at his home. Born January 25, 1968 in Brevard, he was a son of the late Truett Nelson and Bonita Nelson Moretz. Tim was a member of the Boone Advent Christian Church and a member of the Meat Camp Volunteer Fire Department. Tim was very active as a Firefighter and EMT, he dedicated his time and efforts to working to help the public and to educate and train other Emergency Services Personnel. He started his career as a junior firefighter at the Brevard Fire Department and worked for the Boone Fire Department, Deep Gap Fire Department, Watauga Medics, Watauga Rescue Squad, Wilkes EMS and the Watauga County Emergency Management Services. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Townsend Nelson, two brothers, Rick Nelson and wife Tammy of Boone, and David Nelson of Greenville, SC, a special Aunt, Erma Barnett of Brevard, his father and mother in law, Buddy and Daphine Townsend of Boone, one sister in law, Michelle Townsend Cox and husband Chad of West Jefferson, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, R. H. Moretz. A Celebration of the life of Tim Nelson will he held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at noon at the Boone United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Gordon Noble and Rev. Seth Norris. The family will receive fiends prior to the service from 10 am until noon at Boone United Methodist Church. The family respectfully requests no food or flowers.
