William Gary Prichard Jr. died at his home in West Jefferson, NC on Tuesday, April 18. He is survived by his wife, Susan M. Johnson and children, Geremy R.J. Prichard and Tracy M.J. Prichard, his brother and sister-in-law John and Linda Prichard of Holly Springs, NC, and sisters-in-law and husbands Page and Albert Faulk of Charlotte, NC and Vicky and Sherman Madden, of Durham, NC. Nephews and nieces include John Prichard, Jr of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Beltran and Jaime Vitiziu of Sacramento, CA, and Sean Madden and Zachary Madden of Raleigh, NC. Known to all as Gary, he was born in Pulaski, Virginia to Bill and Helen Prichard. Gary is a graduate of Raleigh�s Needham Broughton High School and North Carolina State University, where he graduated with a BS Engineering Operations in 1970. He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega. Gary was a big hearted man with a beautiful soul and a love of the outdoors and an infectious smile. He was an amazing friend who always had an open door for anyone in need of a friend. He was a giving and kind individual who made a point to never judge a book by its cover and to try and always be open minded and loving. He was a blessing to anyone who was given the gift of his friendship. Gary worked for the family business, Mideastern Construction in Raleigh, NC where he eventually become President. In 1997 he and Susan moved to Charlotte, NC where he continued to run Mideastern Construction, splitting his time between Raleigh and Charlotte. Later in his career, he went to work for the State of North Carolina�s Department of Health and Human Services as a facilities inspector. After retiring from the State of North Carolina, he was finally able to pursue his true passion: camping, fishing, and traveling. He begin to split his time between Charlotte and Boone, where he was volunteering his time with Tsuga Canopies. In 2016, he finally moved to West Jefferson full time. In the last few months before his death, he started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He died April 18, 2017 of natural causes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
