Obituary of Tommy D. Robbins

Tommy Dean Robbins, age 72, of Deep Gap, the Stony Fork Community, went home to be with the Heavenly Father Wednesday, April 12, 2017. He was a native of Watauga County and the son of the late William Ross and Maude Edith Jordan Robbins, Jr. He was an excellent gardener and avid hunter.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Paulette Welch Robbins, one daughter, Sheila Taylor and husband Lewis of Avery County, the Altamont Community, one son, Tommy James Robbins of Wilkesboro, four sisters, Betty Day of Augusta, Ga., Ann Miller of Hudson, N.C., Becky Hodges of Dallas, N.C., and Margaret Harmon of Lenoir, N.C.
Two brothers, Roy Robbins of Stanley, N.C. and Larry Robbins of Salem, Arkansas.
Two grandchildren, Adam Greene and wife Kayla of the Stony Fork Community, and Tamera Robbins of Boone. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Benny, Bill and Roger Robbins, and W.R. Robbins, Jr.
Funeral services for Tommy Dean Robbins will be conducted Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.
