Obituary of Edward Sheldon Huff

Edward Sheldon Huff, 86, of Beech Mountain, NC, beloved husband of Patricia Joan Huff, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2017. He was born in Hudson, NJ on July 16, 1930 to Marion and Edward Everett Huff, and was the youngest of five sons. In his early years, Ed served in the U.S. Navy, specializing in the area of submarine service. After his discharge, he worked in New Jersey as a registered land surveyor and land planner. He worked for Rouse Corporation in the planning and development of Columbia, Maryland and Peachtree City, Georgia. In 1973, Ed opened his own business in Alpharetta, GA, becoming founder and CEO of Registered Land Surveyors, Inc., where he worked until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his life, Ed loved to travel, exploring cities in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South American. While at home, he worked tirelessly on landscaping projects of his own design, and relaxed with his family and his dog. He was a longtime member of the Beech Mountain Club where he enjoyed club events, skiing, playing golf, and socializing with friends. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Huff; brother, Kent Huff; daughters, Suzanne Huff Becker and Robyn Castellaw Smit; sons, Chris Huff and Rick Castellaw, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Vanessa Huff and Cynthia Castellaw Cohran; and son, Stephen Huff. A memorial service to celebrate Eds life will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11 AM in the Banner Elk Presbyterian Church with Reverend Field Russell officiating. Eds family would like to thank Medi Home and Hospice Care and Heritage for the loving care they gave him. Also, the family wishes to thank the Beech Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and the Beech Mountain Police for their quick response and wonderful care over the years.
