Smith Adam Harmon, age 83, of Old US Highway 421, Zionville and Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone died Monday morning, September 22, 2008 at the Watauga Medical Center. He was born November 1, 1924 in Watauga County of Monroe Andy and Virgie Mae Stacey Harmon. Mr. Harmon was a member of Vilas Valley Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Singer Furniture in Lenoir. Mr. Harmon is survived by; his wife of fifty-eight years, Victoria Ward Harmon, his five children, Randy Harmon and wife Ruth of Vilas, Linda Farthing and husband Dewey of Banner Elk, Ronnie Harmon and wife Sarah of Leicester, Karen Adams and husband Bill of Colorado Springs, CO. and Ricky Harmon and wife Tanya of Lancaster, SC, ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and one sister, Helen Harmon of Vilas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Leslie Harmon and three brothers, Stacy, Bill and Norman Harmon. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Vilas Valley Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dan Church and Rev. Bill Warren. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until 1 o'clock. Private graveside services will be in the Danner Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Danner Cemetery Fund, in care of David Hodges, 1075 Laurel Fork Road, Vilas, NC 28692.
