Obituary of Ruby R. Jones

Mrs. Ruby Naomi Richards Jones, age 83 of Chestnut Grove Road, Boone, died Thursday morning, September 18, 2008 at Glenbridge Health Care and Rehabilitation. Born January 24, 1925 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late General Lee and Bessie Pearl Lawrence Jones. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of Meat Camp Baptist Church. Surviving are; her husband Chester H. Jones; one daughter, Nell Fletcher and husband Max of Boone, two sons; Ned Jones and wife Judy of Boone and Robert Jones and wife Linda of Fleetwood, four grandchildren; Kim Jones of Mount Holly, Kristina Jones Norris and husband Scott of Boone, Mark Jones and wife Angel and Timmy Jones and wife Carol all of West Jefferson, five great grandchildren; Hannah Grace Norris, Emily, Allie, Eva and Kristen Jones, two sisters; Bernice Grice of Concord, and Suma Jones of Boone, and two brothers; Stanford Richards of Lynchburg, VA and Kenneth Richards of Deep Gap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Cheek, and three brothers; Russell Richards, Ralph Lawrence �R. L.� Richards, Johnny Richards and two infant brothers; James Odell Richards and Bobby Lynn Richards. Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Naomi Richards Jones will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Meat Camp Baptist Church; the body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 o�clock. Officiating will be Rev. David Clippard and Rev. Herbert McCoy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Meat Camp Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, 256 Meat Camp Baptist Church Road, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 o�clock until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. At other times friends may call at the home of Ned & Judy Jones, 142 Edsel Drive, Boone, NC 28607. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Jones family.
