Obituary of Junior P. Eldreth

Junior 'Hogan' Eldreth, age 72, of Grand Boulevard, Boone, died Friday afternoon, September 12, 2008 at Watauga Medical Center. Born in Watauga County August 12, 1936, he was a son of the late Worth and Marie Hamm Eldreth. Junoir was retired from ASU, where he worked in food services. He was a member and Deacon of Doe Ridge Baptist Church Mr. Eldreth is survived; his wife of 51 years, Pauline Moretz Eldreth, one son, Bennie Eldreth and wife Anita of Vilas, two sisters, Elizabeth Isaacs and Shirley Hamby, both of Boone, one brother, Bobby Eldreth and wife Elaine of Lenoir, his special sister-in-law Ruth Shaver and husband Robert of Independence, Virginia and his step-granddaughter, Jonie Church and husband Josh of King. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Cook and two brothers, Leroy Calhoun and James Eldreth. Funeral services for Junior 'Hogan' Eldreth will be conducted Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Doe Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Arvil Hardy. The body will lie in state at the church from 9 until 10 o'clock. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8 o'clock at Austin & Barnes. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Eldreth family.
