Obituary of Lucy C. Bentley

Mrs. Lucy Nell Carlton Bentley, age 89, of Boone, passed away Saturday evening, October 8, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born October 16, 1926 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late E. E. Carlton and Nellie Adeline West Carlton. She is survived by her children, Tommy Elbert Bentley and Linda of Charlotte, Rosie Bentley and Lydia Bentley both of Boone, and Cynthia Bentley Decess of Cary and Dennis Decess of Apex, three grandchildren, April Creed and husband Bobby of Blowing Rock, Emily Moody and husband Todd of Vilas, Lauren Decess of Wilmington, three Great Granddaughters, Kelci Moody, Luci Brooke Creed and Kylie Creed, and one Great Grandson, Matthew Moody, one sister, Arlene Welch of Rock Hill, SC and one brother, Paul Carlton of Blowing Rock, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert A. Bentley, and one sister, Ruth Carlton South. Memorial services for Lucy Carlton Bentley will be conducted Saturday, October 15 at 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Burl Greer and Rev. Jeff McClain. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 o�clock until 2 o�clock at the funeral home.
