Vaughdean Franklin 'Dina' Pruess, age 68, of Forest Ridge Drive, Boone, died Friday morning, September 5, 2008 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1940 in Somerset, Kentucky to Goebel and Adele Gryder Franklin. Mrs. Pruess was a co-owner and operator of the Alpine Country Store in Blowing Rock. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Pruess is survived by; her husband of 47 years Roland Pruess; two sons, Greg Pruess and fianc� Tonya Allen and Jody Pruess and wife Christy, all of Boone; two sisters, June Barker and husband Don and Jimmie Knoll and husband Hank, all of Blowing Rock; two brothers, J. D. Franklin and wife Maxine of Boone and Leonard Franklin and wife Patricia of Candler; and five grandchildren, Chelsea, Barrett, Jalen, Paxton and Camryn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Bowdre and a brother-in-law, Carl Bowdre.
Graveside services for Vaughdean Franklin 'Dina' Pruess will be conducted Sunday evening at 5 o'clock at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock, officiated by Rev. Gordon Noble.
