Paul Graybeal, age 80, of Silverstone Road, Zionville, passed away Friday morning, June 17, 2016 at Watauga Medical Center. Born October 19, 1935 in Ashe County, he was a son of Adolphus and Lula Greer Graybeal. Paul was a member of Westside Baptist Church. As a young man, Paul enjoyed fishing, loved working with wood, and performing with several local bluegrass bands. As a master wood craftsman, Paul designed and hand crafted guitars, mandolins and dulcimers. For more than 20 years, he demonstrated his stringed instruments at Merle Fest in Wilkesboro and at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh. In later years, Paul began to design and construct miniature replica instruments of professional musicians. These he gifted to the artists. Mr. Graybeal is survived by his wife, Jean Thomas Graybeal; sister, Ardna Triplett and husband, Steve, nephew, Jonathan M. Triplett and wife, Regina, and step great-niece, Carlie Buckner, all of Zionville; and aunt, Viola Trivette of Creston. A number of cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Michael Dane Triplett. Funeral services for Paul Graybeal will be conducted Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2016 at 2:30 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Sam Lawson. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1 until 2:30, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Graveside services, officiated by Rev. Eugene Braswell, will be conducted Monday morning, June 20th, at 11 o�clock, at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson. Friends may call at the home of Jean Graybeal, 2231 Silverstone Road in Zionville, or at the home of Ardna and Steve Triplett, 2229 Silverstone Road in Zionville.
