Obituary of Fred R. Greene

Mr. Fred Robert Greene, age 101, of Fred Greene Drive, Vilas, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 12, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Born March 20, 1915 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Brazillar and Rosa Isaacs Greene. Mr. Greene was Veteran of WWII having served with the US Army. He was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anna Perry Greene, two daughters, Patricia Pardue and husband R.C. of Zionville, and Donna Hayes and husband Jimmy of Boone, one grandson, Todd Hayes and wife Victoria of Boone. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Greene Greer, and three brothers, Ivy, Estel, and Ralph Greene. Graveside services for Mr. Fred Robert Greene will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Shelby Stevens. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 130 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 68, Sugar Grove, NC 28679. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 o�clock until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
