Obituary of Robert William Moniz

Robert Madeiros Moniz, age 65, of Oates Drive, Raleigh, and a former resident of Boone, passed away May 31, 2016 at his home. Robert was born December 9, 1950 in Paget, Bermuda. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. After graduating from Watauga High School, Robert served four years in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Human Resources Department in Raleigh. Robert was an active bicyclist, enjoyed playing tennis, and was an avid fan of Bermuda soccer. He is survived by his mother, Angie Greene of Boone; sister, Alice Anderson and husband, Tim, of Wilkesboro; and three brothers, Jessie Dodson and wife, Susan, of Pikesville, Ricky Greene and wife, Beverly, of Laurel Springs, and Bruce Greene of Marietta, GA. Nineteen nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his dad, Ransom� Smokey� Greene, and one nephew, Brandon Lee Greene. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday morning, June 16th, at 11 o�clock at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, officiated by Father Matthew Codd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services, from 10 until 11 o�clock at St. Elizabeth. Graveside services with military honors provided by the US Navy, the American Legion Post #130, and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 90 will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Father Francis Connolly Endowment Fund, in care of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 259 Pilgrims Way, Boone, NC 28607.
