With heavy hearts and great sadness we say goodbye to George Clint Doby Dishman, who passed away on February 7, 2016, in Fort Myers, Florida. Doby was a beloved husband, son, brother, Uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin and friend to many. He was born on September 22, 1937 in Watauga County to Dave and Annie Dishman, now deceased.
After graduating from Bethel High School in 1956, Doby joined the Marine Corps and spent his military service in Puerto Rico. He was a proud Marine. Doby retired in 2007 after 47 years as Shop Supervisor at Sonoco Products Company in Newport, TN. He was devoted to his work and set high standards for himself and his employees.
Doby loved water sports and spent many summers on Douglas Lake, enjoying boating and waterskiing with his nieces and nephews.
Left to treasure his memory is his loving family: wife of 54 years, Shelley Dishman, Glenda Dancy, Bruce and Betty Dishman, Mattie Rominger, and Frank Guy; as well as several nices and nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.
He was also predeceased by Wilborn Rominger, A.D. Dancy, and Shirley Guy.

A Memorial Service for Doby Dishman will be held on May 28, 2016, at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. 194 Queen Street, Boone, North Carolina. Family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. and Services will follow at 3:30 p.m.
Memorials in honor of George Clint Doby Dishman may be made to a Hospice of donors choosing.
