Obituary of Roger Troy McGuire

Mr. Roger Troy McGuire, age 47, of Bernard Bledsoe Road, Todd, NC, died unexpectedly at home Monday, May 13 2013.
Troy was born Feb 4, 1966, in Anderson SC. After finishing high school in northern Virginia, Troy moved to Boone and was employed in the construction industry. Troy was not only an accomplished carpenter, but also an avid and excellent banjo player. Troy was instrumental in initiating the Friday night Todd General Store music jams.
Troy is survived by his son, Grayson McGuire of Jacksonville, FL; his father Phil McGuire (De'an) of Boone his sister, Jenny McGuire Blevins (Alan) of Troutman, NC; brother, Phillip McGuire of Asheville, NC; by his beloved nieces Macy Dressler, Bryn McGuire; nephews Marshall McAleer; Ben Blevins, and Ethan McGuire; great niece, Layla Dressler and by his special friend Christie Fredenburg.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Maness McGuire; and, his grandparents Marshall and Macy Manass and Roger and Ala McGuire;
In addition to his family and friends, Troy loved his banjo, old timey music, the history of the NC mountains and the people who lived here.
Memorial Services for Roger Troy McGuire will be held Saturday May 18th at Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11a.m. to 12 noon at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
There will be no graveside services.
