Obituary of Hazen T. Woodring

Mr. Hazen Thomas Woodring, age 12, of Jefferson and formerly of Boone, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Ashe County Hospital. Hazen was born September 26, 2003 in Buncombe County. He was a member of Faith Bridge Methodist Church. Hazen was a blessing to anyone who knew him. He had an infectious smile and touched the hearts of everyone he met. He was the poster child for happiness. He had many teachers, therapists, and classmates who became family to him. Hazen loved to snuggle, eat cheesecake, watch fireworks, and listen to music - his favorite was anything by Johnny Cash. He is survived by his parents, Jennifer Miller and Richard Ward of Jefferson, a half-sister, Lindsay Woodring of Boone, his grandparents, Sharon and Dave Winebarger of Deep Gap and Martha Ward of Sugar Grove, special cousins, James and Ashley Miller of Todd, and a number of aunts and uncles and cousins. A service to celebrate the life of Hazen Thomas Woodring will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2016 at 4:30, at Faithbridge United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Austin & Barnes Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
