Obituary of Miss Callie Corinne Greer

Callie Corinne Greer, 82, passed away peacefully at the Henry Etta and Bruce Hinkle Hospice House in Davidson County, NC, on May 5, 2016, after years of declining health. Corinne was a long term resident at Brian Center in Lexington and before that, at Hickory Manor in Hickory, NC. Corinne was born to A. Alfonzo and Dorris Billings Greer in Moorewood in Custer County, Oklahoma, on March 30, 1934. Her family moved to Butler, Tennessee, and then later to Vilas in Watauga County, NC. She graduated from Cove Creek High School in 1952 and from Lees-McRae College in 1954. Corinne also lived in Moscow, Idaho, for a short time when she was a young adult. She lived with her mother and brother, Abner, in Vilas for many years. She was a long-time member of Willowdale Baptist Church in Vilas, NC, where she played the piano and taught Sunday School. She loved her Church. Corinne was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as an older sister, Maisie Greer Barton (Wilson) of Dillwyn, Virginia; two older brothers, Edmund Greer ( Pansy) of Lynchburg, VA, and Abner Greer of Vilas, NC.; and a younger sister, Bobbie Jean Greer Edmisten (Earl) of Harmony, NC. Surviving are an older brother, Frank Greer (Ann) of Lexington, NC, and many other relatives. The family wishes to express our thanks for the kind and loving care Corinne has received by many special volunteers, nursing assistants, and nurses through the years. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday morning, May 11, 2016 at 11:00, at Willowdale Baptist Church in Vilas, NC, officiated by Pastor Eugene Braswell. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
