Obituary of Harry Stephen Hamilton

Harry Stephen Hamilton, known as Steve, age 70, of Shadowline Drive, Boone, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice in Lenoir. Steve was born May 4, 1945 in Boone. He received his BA degree in agriculture from Oklahoma State University and a degree in horticultural from Catawba Valley Community College. He served in the Vietnam war 1968-1970. For many years he was a well-respected Real Estate Broker in the High Country. He was a former member of the Boone Kiwanis club and volunteered many places such as Watauga Hospital and Red Cross.
Steve loved walking on the Greenway and at the Wellness Center, farming, golfing, and fishing. He also enjoyed his morning coffee, being outdoors, a good joke, conversations with friends and growing in his faith with his Faithbridge church family.
Steve is survived by his brother, Frank Hamilton and wife, Diana of Boone; nieces, Ranee Hamilton Myers of Asheville and Rev. April Hamilton Cranford and husband, Reed, of Fishersville, VA; and two great-nieces, River Grace Cranford and Haven Leigh Cranford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Mish Hamilton, Jr. and Lorene Hamilton Parker.

A Memorial service will be conducted Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2016 at 1 oclock at Faithbridge United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Ben Carson and Rev. April Cranford.
Graveside services will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Faithbridge United Methodist Church, 194 Aho Road, Blowing Rock, NC 28605. The family wishes to especially thank all of Steves friends including the class of 1963, realtors, and his new friends since December of 2014 at Appalachian Brian Estates. Also, deep gratitude is given to Rev. Cindy Long, CNA for the impressive care, laughter and compassion shared with Steve since August of 2014.
