Howard Woodrow Cable, 94, of Rush Branch Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born May 4, 1921 in Watauga County, he was a son of William Lee and Sena Johnson Cable. Howard was a long time active member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a past Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the church choir. He raised tobacco and cattle on the family farm. One of Howard�s favorite past time was fox hunting with his dogs.
Mr. Cable is survived by his sister, Hazel Farthing and husband, Edmond, of Vilas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Patsy Mize Cable; sisters, Lena Edmisten and Dosha Wilson; brothers, Frank, Dwight, Spencer and Hal Cable; half-sister, Grace Johnson; and half-brother, Jim Cable.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 2 PM, at Antioch Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Daniel Lawrence. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 until 2 o�clock, prior to services, at the church. Graveside services will follow in the Cable-Matheson Family Cemetery.
