Obituary of Marjorie K. Bumbaugh

Marjorie Louise Karl Bumbaugh, 95, passed away March 21, 2016. Born September 19, 1920, in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Karl and Gertrude Lavanture Karl. At age 6 she went to the Quincy Orphanage sponsored by the United Brethren Church. Marjorie was a graduate of Quincy High School and Harrisburg Beauty School. In 1953, she and her family moved to Boone, NC. She was employed by the ASU Bookstore as a cashier, retiring after thirty years of service. Prior to her declining health, Marjorie was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Boone. She served as treasurer of her Sunday School class, a member of the Joy Circle and the Senior Adult Choir. Her love of the church, music and people never waned. Her survivors include one brother, Jack Karl and wife, Ginny of Oberlin-Steelton, PA; two sons, Jerry Bumbaugh and wife Renee, of Shelby, NC, Billy Karl and wife, Mary, of San Francisco, CA; special friends, Phyllis Shore Bumbaugh and Betty Reary; five grandchildren: Felicia B. Yarboro and husband Jonathan, Kristin B. Espinosa and husband Santiago, Lavinia Karl, Luke Karl, and Lillian Karl; three great grandchildren, Katherine Yarboro, Isabella Espinosa and Cristavo Espinosa; and five nieces. A celebration of her life will be conducted Friday, March 25, 2016 at 2:00 in the Chapel of Austin and Barnes Funeral Home.
