Bessie Mae Parks Younce, age 88, formerly of Rush Branch Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Saturday evening, February 6, 2016 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone.
Born September 12, 1927 in Saltville, Virginia, she was a daughter of James Randolph and Nina Novella Tester Parks. Mrs. Younce was a member of Union Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelby Harmon and husband, Billy, and Phyllis Oliver and husband, Bryson, all of Sugar Grove; sisters, Billie Stines of Boone and Georgia Harmon of Vilas; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; and a special friend, Pat Haleedel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Younce; son, Bill Potter; daughter, Brenda Dentino; brothers, Edward and David Parks; and sisters, Bertha Shew and Nancy Brown.
Funeral services for Bessie Mae Parks Younce will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, February 9th, at 2 o�clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Derick Wilson and Rev. Vernon Eller. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1 until 2 o�clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Graveside services and burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
