Obituary of Jacqueline Jacob Halowell

Jacqueline Jac Jacob Hallowell of Wilmington and more recently Boone, NC passed away January 28, 2016 at Watauga Medical Center at the age of 87. Born in Wellsburg, WV November 29, 1928 Jac is the daughter of the late James Arch Jacob and Caroline Ewing Jacob. The wife of the late J. Wallace Hallowell III, she is survived by two children Jay Wallace and Caroline Ewing Lynn Hallowell and a brother Arch Jacob. A distinguished athlete, she graduated from Wilson College in 1950 and began a career in New York City with TWA. Jacs career and family moved her through Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Wilmington and Boone. Travel a passion of Jacs, brought her to Europe, the Galapagos, China, through the Panama Canal and most of the fifty states including Hawaii. She cared deeply for family, animals and protecting nature. Jac and Wally built a dream home on the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, NC in 1990 where they enjoyed Magnificent sunsets-- ranging from gold through reds to deep purple. She will be remembered as the original soccer mom and devoted mother with a giant heart. She lit up the room with her contagious smile and positive outlook on life. She never met a stranger and was loved by all. Please join her family in a celebration of her life in Boone at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living, 287 Bamboo Rd at 2pm on Monday February 8 and in Wilmington at The Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 4501 Wrightsville Ave February 10, at 4pm.
