Obituary of Celia Ward Trivette

Celia Ward Trivette, age 92, of Oak Street, Boone, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2016 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation. Born February 14, 1923 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late Council A. and Millie Trivette Ward. She graduated from Bethel School, married Max Trivette, and the two raised two children. Celia was a loving mother, homemaker, and worked for a number of years at Blue Ridge Shoe in Boone. She was a devoted member of Timbered Ridge Baptist Church for 80 years. Mrs. Trivette competed in the Senior games for 30 years and loved to bowl with her friends. She enjoyed gardening and sharing the bounty with anyone who came by. God blessed her for 92 years. Mrs. Trivette is survived by her daughter, Mary Taylor and husband, Tony, of Mountain City, TN; son, Larry M. Trivette and wife, Tina, of Sugar Grove; five grandchildren, Bobby and Mickie Taylor, Jerri Winebarger, Kelly Trivette and Jennifer Pacheco and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty James of Lexington, Ruth Walsh and husband, Lester, of Athens, TN, and Madeline Hatley of Hudson; and one sister-in-law, Thelma Ward of Sugar Grove; and a very special friend, Pat Cook of Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Trivette; three sisters, Annie Ward, Lizzie Combs and Bonnie Gilday; and four brothers, Alfred, John Henry, Grayson, and Albert Ward. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 3, at 2 PM at Timbered Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Derick Wilson and Rev. David Ward. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2 PM at Timbered Ridge. Graveside services will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
