Obituary of Dale Adams

Dale D Adams, Sr., 96, of Dale Adams Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN. Born in Watauga County on February 20, 1919, Dale was a son of Soloman and Virgie Cornett Adams. A disabled American veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. For many years he was an active member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Adams retired from R. D. Hodges Oil Company. An avid golfer, Dale has been a member of the Boone Golf Course since 1961. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Earlena Greene Adams; sons, Dale Adams, Jr and wife Mary of Vilas and Kent Adams of Lenoir; grandson, Jason Adams and wife Krystal, of Oklahoma; step grandson, Tony Glenn and wife Stephanie, of Vilas; great granddaughter, Chelsea Adams; great-grandsons, Garrett, Justus, Melchia and Elijah Adams; and step-great grandchildren, Gideon and Melea Glenn. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Adams; sisters, Margaret Grigg and Reba Bingham; and grandson, Randy Adams. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 14, at 2 PM at Cove Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Shelby Stephens and Rev. Daniel Lawrence. The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes.
