Gail (Johnson) Gross 74 of Fleetwood, NC, formerly of Coudersport, PA died unexpectedly December 26, 2015 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC.
Born November 25, 1941, she was the daughter of Fredrick and Evelyn (Poppleton) Johnson. She was a 1958 graduate of Coudersport High School.
A retired Field Manager/Statistical Analyst of Alcatel-Lucent (AT&T), Gail believed in giving back. She was an active member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church in Deep Gap, NC, and assisted with meal preparation for the monthly Prime Timer group, enjoyed creating blankets for Covers of Comfort, creating crafts at VBS, raising money for Relay of Life and putting together shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. As a cancer survivor and former volunteer at the Seby B. Jones Cancer Center in Boone, NC, she will be remembered for her efforts with their Look Good Feel Better program.
In her later years, Gail found artistic release in her second career with Stampin Up. She held monthly workshops where she taught others to create beautiful cards like the ones she was known to make.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Miller) Plaza of Lewis Run, PA; two sisters, Barbara Ronnie and husband Tom of Northampton, PA, Judilyn Zierowicz and husband Jack of Wyoming, PA; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by the love of her life, Raymond E. Gross, daughter Deborah (Miller) Howland of Sanford, FL and son Gregory Randall Potter of Harrison Valley, PA.
A celebration of life was held December 29, 2015 at Laurel Springs Baptist Church for her church family. This spring, a memorial will be held in Coudersport, PA for friends and family; date and time TBD. She is missed by many.
