Oather Douglas MAC Green, 72, of Green Reeson Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Lifecare of Banner Elk. Born March 25, 1943 in Crawfordville, FL, he was a son of Robert Albert and Persephone Laird Green. Mac and Anne were active members of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Valle Crucis. After retiring from Pittsburg Paint and Glass in Tallahassee, FL, the Greens moved to Sugar Grove and Mac worked for fifteen years at Blowing Rock Hospital.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne Marsh Green; son, Michael Green and wife Rabob of Atlanta, GA; step-daughter, Kathy Harpe of Tallahassee, FL; and step-son, Ken Harpe Jr. of Zephyr Hills, FL. Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Albert and Persephone Laird Green; two brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be conducted Friday, January 8, at 11 oclock at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Valle Crucis, officiated by Father Allan McCaslin. Graveside services will follow at the Old St. Johns Episcopal Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Mission Outreach at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, PO Box 645, Valle Crucis, NC 28691.
