Obituary of George Milton Foster

George Milton Foster, Jr., age 73, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. He was born October 21, 1942 in Wilkes County to the late George M. and Espa Anderson Foster, Sr. Mr. Foster was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262 A.F. & A.M., Snow Masonic Lodge of Boone, Oasis Shriner, Foothills Shrine Club and National Sojourners 553. Mr. Foster retired from the Army with the 82nd Airborne Division, a Vietnam veteran and served in Desert Storm. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and American Legion. He was also a beekeeper with the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association. He was owner of Miltons Locksmith service. Milton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a friend to all. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Killian Foster, of the home; two daughters, Melissa Granger and husband Andy of Hickory, and Jennifer Holder and husband Adam of Wake Forest; two step-daughters, Regina Adkins of Hickory and Michelle Hargus and husband Kevin of Granite Falls, two brothers, William Foster of Wilkesboro and Larry Foster of Boone; four sisters, Grace Brinegar of Wilkesboro, Helen Stamper of St. Louis, MO; Judy Jones of Boone, and Linda Jones of West Jefferson; five grandchildren, Blaine Butler, Madison Butler, Marlowe Holder, Jessica Causby and Michael Hargus; and two great-grandchildren, Raylee Hargus and Evelyn Causby. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home chapel conducted by Rev. Jeff Burkheimer and Rev. Tim Jones. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors by the National Guard and the Caldwell County Honor Guard, followed by Masonic graveside rites by the Hibriten Lodge #262. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262.
