Mrs. Maye Hubble Wheatley, age 88, of Bamboo Road, Boone, passed away Saturday morning, October 24, 2015. Mrs. Wheatley was born November 12, 1926 in Russell County Virginia. She was retired from the Scott County School Board where she worked as the Clerk for over 30 years in Gate City, Virginia. Maye enjoyed cooking, sewing and working in her flowers. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Nickelsville Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicki Miller of Vilas, one granddaughter, Cindy L. Clark of Kingsport, Tennessee, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest E. Hubble and Mattie Purcell Hubble, her husband Ezra Wheatley, and several brothers and sisters.
Memorial services for Mrs. Maye Wheatley will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 oclock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Delmar James. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 oclock until 2 oclock at the funeral home.
