Obituary of Donald Burl Norris

Donald Burl Norris, age 73, of Moses Springs Road, Boone, passed away Thursday morning, October l, 2015 at Watauga Medical Center. Born January 25, 1942 in Watauga County, he was a son of Hoy and Lizzie Williams Norris. Mr. Norris was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burl enjoyed camping and fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He was a contractor and builder who designed and sold houses. Mr. Norris is survived by his wife of 29 years, Glenda Matheson Norris of the home; son, Mitchell Norris and wife, Kelly, of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Robbin Dinbokowitz and husband, Bobby, Starrla Rogos and husband, Aaron, and Krystall Bell and husband, Randy, all of Arizona; two step-daughters, Beth Berry and husband, Jeff, of Boone and Deana Lipford and husband, Coy, of Zionville; eleven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burl was preceded in death by his parents, Hoy and Lizzie Williams Norris; brother, Kenneth Norris, and sisters, Sally Norris Brown and Eula Norris Vines. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, October 3rd, 2015, at 2 oclock, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Gary Watson. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 oclock prior to services, at the church. Graveside services and burial will follow in the Norris-Tabernacle Cemetery.
