Obituary of George W. Hooks

Mr. George Washington Hooks, III, age 75, of Teaberry Hills, Boone, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born February 14, 1940 in Wake Forest, he was a son of the late George Washington Hooks, Jr., and Ella Gill Hooks. Mr. Hooks was retired from GTE, where he worked as a Regional Director, and was a US Navy Veteran. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge, where he had previously held the office of National Vice President. George was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He was an avid Harley rider, and member of the Gold Wing Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hooks, one son, George Washington Hooks, IV, of Durham, one daughter, Sonja Hooks Blake and husband Jerry of Youngsville, one step-son, Timothy Joseph �Skip� Watts and wife Beth of Boone, grandson, Jeremey Blake and wife Shannon of Youngsville, step grandson, Alden Watts of Boone, great grandson, Jackson Lee Blake of Youngsville, and one brother John Lewis Hooks and wife Barbara of High Point.
Memorial services for Mr. George Hooks will be conducted at 3pm on Sunday, August 30th at the Moose Lodge in Boone, NC.
A celebration of life will follow.
