Lena Matheson Glenn, age 85, of Rush Branch Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2015 at her home. Born November 7, 1929 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Ross and Rosa Cook Matheson. Mrs. Glenn was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. As a housewife and homemaker, Lena loved her family, especially preparing home cooked meals from the canned goods harvested from the garden. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering in her spare time. Mrs. Glenn is survived by three sons, David and Kenneth Glenn, both of the home, and Dennis Ray Glenn of Granite Falls; three daughters, Levita Hicks and husband, Dennis, of Sugar Grove, Libby Trivett and husband, James, of Vilas, and Lisa Walters and husband, Scott, of Churchill, Tn.; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Juanita Smith of Boone, Betty Jo Cable of Sugar Grove, and Shelby Cannon and husband, Herman, of Vilas. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Glenn; one daughter, Linda Wilcox; three grandchildren, Kim and Beverly Wilcox, Talbert Hicks; her parents; and six brothers. Funeral services for Lena Matheson Glenn will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 30th, at 2 o�clock, at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Sam Lawson. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1 until 2 o�clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Graveside services will follow at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
