Mr. Mackie H. Watson, age 82, of Deep Gap, passed away Thursday evening. Mackie was a retired chicken farmer, sawmiller, and who owned and operated Watson�s Fruit Stand. He was very well known for his generosity and thoughtfulness to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ode and Texie Greene Watson, and a sister, Margaret Greene.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Watson; a son, Donnie Watson of Deep Gap; a niece, Libby and husband Dennis Winebarger of Deep Gap; and a nephew, Billy and wife Terry Blevins of West Jefferson.
Funeral services for Mackie H. Watson will be conducted Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service time.
