Obituary of Estle W. Norris

Estle Wade Norris, age 92, of Milton Moretz Road, Boone, died Tuesday Morning, May 19, 2015. He was born August 28, 1922 in Watauga County to Robert Leander and Lucy Norris, and was a member of Bethelview United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Veteran, stationed in Europe for most of his enlistment. He was a builder by trade, worked as a mason, and owned and operated a sawmill. During his retirement years, he loved to listen to Bluegrass music and was always ready to get up and dance. Estle was known for the sticker cards he loved to make. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lena Main Norris. Surviving are three daughters, Lynda Brown and husband Gary and Caron L. Norris, all of Boone and Sheron Norris of Lenoir; Six grandchildren, Laura Crandall and husband, Rob, Lenore Jamison and husband, Dave, Lynette Hartley and husband, Eric, all of Boone, Leslie Lawrence and husband, Aaron of Sugar Grove, Bridgette Haas and husband, Harold of Lenoir and Shilohe Otto and husband, Justin of Boone; and twelve great-grandchildren, Lillie and Noah Jamison, Ethan and Eli Hartley, Grant, Gracie and Gabriella Lawrence, Autumn and Kaitlyn Haas, and Chase, Ryker and Camdyn Otto. Two sisters Betsy Stanbery , Unadel Ward and husband David, sister-in law, Bea Norris, all of Boone. Two sister-in-laws, Beulah Harvey and husband, Lee, of Siler City and Jessie Cassavaugh and husband, John of Lenoir. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his step� mother, Nina Norris, three sisters, Jessie Padgett and husband, John, Maebelle Denny and husband, Edwin, and Roberta Norris. Two brothers, Coy Norris and wife Elsie and Raevon Norris, and one brother-in-law Harold Stanbery. Funeral services for Mr. Estle Norris will be conducted Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2015 at 2:00 at Bethelview Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Bob Roten and Rev. Elaine Hall. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service at Bethelview United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors provided by American Legion Post 130 and DAV Chapter 90 will be in the Norris Tabernacle Cemetery.
