Obituary of Robert C. Winebarger
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Clyde Winebarger was born on May 31, 1925 to Grady and Edna Pearl Winebarger in Boone, NC. He passed peacefully from this world and into the arms of his Savior on the morning of March 23, 2015, in the home he shared with his wife for over fifty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Mrs. Cora Pearl Winebarger; four children- Scott Winebarger, Ronnie Winebarger and wife Crystal, Tommy Winebarger, Susan Curtis and husband Allen; one sister- Clara Norris and husband Bobby Gene; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong resident of Meat Camp in Watauga County. During his early life he worked in a lumber mill and then as a guard for The Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He saw much of the country during the over forty years he spent as a long haul truck driver. Robert was an incredibly intelligent man who was largely self-educated. He had a quick wit and was always ready with a joke or story to share. Most of all he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Robert and the family were blessed to be served by Medi Home Hospice, Becky, Jennifer, Christy and Jimmy and Dr. Leslie Smith and her staff.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am, followed by his funeral service on March 25, 2015 at Austin and Barnes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jerry Moretz, Rev. Delmar James and Evangelist Judy Luster. Burial will follow in the Winebarger Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, though appreciated, memorials may be made to Medi Home Health and Hospice of Watauga County.
