Darcey James, beloved wife of Dick James of Banner Elk, joined the Lord in Heaven on Saturday November 29, 2014 Darcey was born in Midland, MI, on February 5, 1956, to Jacquie Losche, recently of Charlotte until her death in 2010, and Bob Zimmerman, of Midland, who died in May, 2014. Darcey was the youngest of three children. Her brothers, Bob and Bruce Zimmerman, live in Boston, MA area, and her half- sisters Katie Herman and Betsy Beldoc live in Michigan. Throughout her life, Darcey was exceptional. She was valedictorian of her high school class at the Leelanau School in Glen Arbor, MI, in 1974. After briefly attending Central Michigan University, she graduated with honors in English from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec Canada. After college, she worked for Pan American Airlines in Detroit, Chicago, and New York, and then British Airways in Chicago and Seattle. While in Chicago, she became a noted ballroom dancer. Darcey met the love of her life, Dick, in Seattle. With their marriage in 1995, she put her airline organizing skills to work in support of him, a senior executive with Boeing. They lived for several years in Brussels, Belgium, where her fluency in French and love of European culture were real assets. From dignitary receptions and galas to home and building interior design, Darcey�s sense of fun and artistic eye lent everything she touched a bit of magic. Since moving to Banner Elk in 2005, Darcey and Dick have been involved with their church, Christ the King, an Anglican fellowship, many charitable endeavors, family both close and far and enjoying their home on a hill. She is survived by her husband Dick and his two daughters, Monti and Denise, and her husband David, grandsons William, Ross, Jordan, Logan and Bennett, her brothers Bob and his wife Kathy, and their three children Peter, Will, and Emily Bender, and her husband Alex, and Bruce, and his wife Solange, and their three children Caroline, Lara, and Thomas, as well as half sister Katie�s three children Ashley, Kaitlyn, and Hunter. She is also survived by her lifelong closest friend in all things, Pam Dow.
