Obituary of Kate W. Tester

Kate W. Tester, age 99, of Bob Campbell Road, Vilas, passed away Thursday November 20th, 2014. Kate was born August 26, 1915 in Watauga County to Charlie and Nancy Swift Winebarger. She was a retired nurse and a member of Forest Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Tester; sister, Ruth Tester; two brothers, Everett and Dean Winebarger; sons, Fred and wife Wilma Winebarger, and Eugene Winebarger; grandson, Tony Winebarger; great-grandchildren, Hannah Greer and Micah Brooks; and special niece, Judy Ahrenberg. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Wilson and husband, Paul, of Sugar Grove; six grandchildren, Ann Shipman and husband, Steve of Greenville, SC, Jan Pendley and husband, Mike, of Boone, Sandy Swift and husband, Dana, Kim Greer and husband, Wynn, and Marta Brooks and husband, Justin, all of Vilas, and Brad Wilson and wife, Leslie, of Mountain City, TN; eleven great-grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Shipman, Kevin and Kristen Pendley, Davy and Taylor Cornell, Noah, Abigail and Chloe Greer, Kara Brooks, and Troy Wilson. She is also survived by five great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Bill Tester and wife, Kathy, of Boone, Mike Tester and wife, Christy, of Blowing Rock; three great-nieces, Emily Ahrenberg of Vilas, Katie and Ginny Tester, of Boone; and daughter-in-law, Lana King. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, November 23, from 1 until 2:30 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will follow Sunday afternoon at 3 o�clock at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Pastors Wynn Greer and Thomas Brown. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her church family, neighbors, kind friends over the years, and Medi Home Hospice for their support and lovingkindness in her final days.
