Wilma Godsey Winebarger, age 67, of Beaver Dam Road, Vilas, died
Friday morning, June 13, 2008 surrounded by her family at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
She was born November 25, 1940 in Hamilton, Alabama to Leon and Hester Cox Godsey. Mrs. Winebarger was a member of Forest grove Baptist Church in the Bethel Community. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served as a medical specialist and retired from the Watauga County School System. Mrs. Winebarger was also a leader in the hospitality industry for many years.
Wilma was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She is survived by; three daughters, Ann Shipman and husband Steve of Myrtle Beach, Jan Pendley and husband Mike of Boone and Sandy Cornell and special friend Dana Swift, both of Vilas; two granddaughters, Kristin Pendley and Taylor Cornell and four grandsons, Kevin Pendley, David Cornell and wife Marissa, Michael and Nicholas Shipman; two sisters, Cora Baughn of Jasper, Alabama and Virginia Serpas and husband Wallace of Picayune, Mississippi; one brother, William Godsey and wife Joanne of Tennessee; and her mother-in-law, Kate Tester of Vilas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lynnwood Winebarger, four sisters, Mozell Dulaney, Colua Samford, Hoovalle and Maxie Godsey, one brother, Douglas Godsey, two half-sisters, Agnes Harper and Hettie Clark and a half-brother, Veto Godsey.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, June 17, at 11 o�clock at Forest Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Mike Warren and Rev. Carl Johnson. Burial will follow in the Forest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes. At other times, the family will be at the Winebarger residence.
