Obituary of Miss Lavola Carender

Lavola Carender, age 94, of Banner Elk, died Friday, August 3, 2007 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. Born April 28, 1913, she was a daughter of Lee R. Carender and Rhoda E. Shook Carender. She attended Appalachian State Teachers College, was a retired school teacher of 35 years and a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Lee R. Carender and Rhoda E. Shook Carender and by her sister, Launa Carender. Funeral services for Lavola Carender will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dean Baughn, Rev. George Wright and Rev. Don Holder. Burial will follow in the Matney Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
