Obituary of Grady Earl Trexler

Grady "Earl" Trexler, age 93, of Blowing Rock, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023. He was a native of Watauga County and the son of the late John and Minnie Eldridge Trexler. He was a 72 year member of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church
Earl was co-owner of Blowing Rock Hardware for 27 years. He was a co-founder of the Blowing Rock Fishing Derby, which started in 1972.
He was a MASTER trout fisherman and hunter, MASTER trout flytier, and MASTER woodworker and gardener.
Earl was a loving husband, dad, grandad, and great-granddad. He was selfless, gentle, and very humble to all people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Richard, Tom, Charles, and Bob Trexler; and 5 sisters, Margaret, Ruth, Elizabeth, Lucille, and Shelby Jean. Also, a daughter-in-law Sandra Edmisten Trexler.
He is survived by his wife of 72 1/2 years, Nancy Lentz Trexler; one son, Tom Trexler and wife Talana; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Gould and husband Troy, Heather Wullenweber and husband Josh; 1 great-granddaughter, Cora Kay Gould; 1 sister-in-law Mary Lentz. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, June 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery, Blowing Rock.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jim Stuart Scholarship Fund c/o Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1218 Main Street, Blowing Rock, NC 28605 and/or The Blowing Rock Fishing Derby, Blowing Rock Town Hall, 1036 Main Street, Blowing Rock, NC 28605.
