Obituary of Anne Winebarger

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Marshall Travis Winebarger will be always remembered for kind spirit, infectious laughter, and loving nature. She and Tom had been married for 45 years. Tom took very good care of Anne and was her best friend, with the possible exception of Patches their dog child. Anne was born on March 27, 1958, and was adopted into the loving family of Marshall and Annie Mae Travis at 3 months of age. It may seem obvious that her name was derived from the names of her Mom and Dad. Most of her loving friends and relatives knew her as Anne Marshall. "No one knew exactly what to do with her as a child because she was hyperactive long before the discovery of ADHD. She had to have a hernia removed at age 6 because she loved to pick me up," says her brother Charles. She spent 9 years in the loving arms of her grandparents in Catawba County. She moved to Blowing Rock in 1966 with her parents and brother. She started the third grade at Blowing Rock Elementary School. She was raised in the Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church and enjoyed many childhood friendships there. Anne passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Boone, North Carolina at the age of 65. She is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Winebarger; her brother, Charles Travis and his wife Joy; Tom's mother, Dot and his siblings, John, Bill, Mark and wife Jerri, Cindy, Elaine, Pam, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 28 at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock. Online condolences may be shared at the website www.austinandbarnesfuneralhome.com Austin and Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Winebarger family.
